Future generations will come after us and they must follow the path that we have carved. If we do not alter that path then we will be responsible for the damaged world that our children inherit.
Much more is at stake. It is about raising a new generation of leaders who inevitably are going to inherit the problems we will leave behind. By using the school itself as a teaching tool - as an opportunity for learning - connections really start to happen with kids. Since the early 1990’s schools have experienced periods of volatility in the cost of their energy. In fact in 2001, 61 percent of public school districts experienced insufficient energy budgets, forcing school districts to take some of the following actions: - Raise school taxes - Reallocate funds from other programs - Roll over the under budgeted amount to the next fiscal year - Cancel extracurricular activities Our program is a victory for students, teachers, communities, and our planet. It will help improve educational opportunities, boost student achievement, and help transition our society toward a green economy while making our classrooms and students more environmentally friendly.
